The fireballs are fossil remains that may remain after the explosion of a supernova. The gas within these stellar remnants preserved evidence -ionized silicon and sulfur, which reveal that there were high temperatures. They are called “fossil” in astronomical parlance because they harbor “footprints” of the past.
