Alerts users of mobile Nexus from Google : smartphones are vulnerable to attacks by SMS that could force them to reboot or lose their connection to the network, the web reported.
Bogdan Alecu, a computer systems administrator Dutch company services Levi9 apparently discovered that vulnerability can occur when the attacker sends about 30 messages Flash SMS - messages displayed on the screen immediately upon arrival phone - the Galaxy Nexus , the Nexus 4 or Nexus 5 .
One of the problems that users face Nexus phones is that they are not alerted automatically when receiving SMS flash , which would allow the attacker to send several messages quickly before the user account and can delete them.
According to the resources, overload SMS can lead to several problems, including restarting the phone, which is the most likely outcome. In this case, if a PIN is required to unlock the SIM card, the phone will not connect to the network after rebooting.
Another problem that can occur is that the messaging application to crash and then the system restarts automatically.
Although the problem seems to affect recent Nexus smartphones working with Android Ice Cream Sandwich to KitKat, this does not seem to affect other phones tested by Alecu.
According to the resources, Google has been notified of the problem and the company plans to address the issue soon.
