Mozilla has announced the latest edition of the Mobile World Congress to launch its own mobile operating system and today announced its name, Firefox OS.
Firefox OS hit the market in early 2013 at the hands of Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, Smart, Sprint, Telecom Italia and Telenor and ZTE and Alcatel are the first manufacturers to market phones with this new operating system. In the case of Telefónica, the first devices will go on sale early next year in Brazil, under the Vivo brand.
The operating system architecture Mozilla looking phone that resides entirely on the web and is based on the HTML5 language, to achieve low cost smart phones that compete with Android and iPhone operating systems.
Mozilla said in a statement that Firefox OS is based on its “Boot to Gecko” which eliminates many limitations of mobile web, as it allows HTML5 applications from accessing basic phone capabilities.
