Without much fanfare, Microsoft seems to be next to make a big announcement: the release of Office 2013 for Windows RT. After making a public demonstration of the package in the TechEd conference earlier this month, the company had already finished building its first version of the software for general users. According to Dutch site Bouween Pc, the program should arrive next week in beta.
Remember that, unlike Windows 8, which already had three pre-release versions released for public testing, Office 2013 just came out in a model called Technical Preview, to selected developers and partners. Therefore, if the rumors reported by the Dutch are confirmed, this will be the first time that the regular user can get their hands on the new software package from Microsoft.
The project is being referred to internally as Office 15 and must be pre-installed on all devices whose operating system is Windows RT – including Microsoft Surface tablet.
Despite all expectations, users who want the final version of the new Office will still have to wait a bit. This is because the program should not be released long before Windows 8 and Windows RT, whose release date is only for next year.
