The international community celebrated this Friday, May 17th edition of the IX World Internet Day with hundreds of activities and events planned for the occasion.
In addition to continuing efforts to bring new technologies to those who have more difficulties to use, and to promote the proper use of the Internet, the challenge of the event in 2013 is analyzed lasimplicaciones Internet as an engine of social, economic and cultural .
In this sense, the main event will be held in the Senate on May 17, and will include plenary discussion ‘sustainable content creation, a challenge for all’ with the participation of leading figures and experts in the field.
Such is the case of Pio Garcia Escudero (Senate President), Cecilio Madero (European Commission), Borja Adsuara (Red.es), Anton Reixa (SGAE), Juan Carlos R. Ibarra (Former President of Extremadura), Ignacio Fernande – Vega (Telephonica), Francisco Ruiz Anton (Google), Nicolas Martin Estanis (PayPal), Jesus Badenes (Grupo Planeta) and Miguel Perez Subias (AUI).
The event also will be delivering school Contest Awards and Lifetime Achievement Award, which this year for the first time recognizes unamujer: Ana María Llopis, entrepreneur and pioneer in digital business development in Spain.
World Internet Day
The World Internet Day is celebrated every May 17 to promote and facilitate access to the Information Society and the proper use of the Internet.
The celebration comes in 2005 at the initiative of the Internet Users Association and was approved Porla UN General Assembly in March 2006.
It has, since its inception, with the support of different stakeholders who form the Committee to Promote Internet Day and a large range of institutions, agencies and Internet companies such as Google, eBay, PayPal, Telephone, Openbank, Phoenix Direct and HP, which are promoting, designing and configuring the events and activities that will be developed for May 17.
