Intel is preparing for the announcement of several Android-devices with dual-core processor. New items will be displayed at the exhibition Mobile World Congress (WMC), which will be held from 25 to 28 February in Barcelona. There also will be a cheap line of smartphones, tablets and ultrabook platform Z2420 (Lexington) for developing countries. This was stated in a press release Intel.
Z2420 – is a “system on a chip”, featured companies at CES in January. The platform is based on the architecture of Saltwell with speeds up to 1.2 GHz. Cheap graphics chipset will SGX540 – the same as in the iPhone 4, which was released more than two and a half years ago. What is important for developing regions, smartphones Z2420 will have slots for two SIM-cards.
Intel, which is considered the leading manufacturer of PC processors, later entered the “mobile” market, so now trying to catch up. Companies can create powerful chips, but with high energy consumption, which is critical for mobile devices.
In September of last year, Intel released with Motorola RAZR smartphone processor Medfield, but widespread among manufacturers of its decision not yet received. At the January exhibition, the company said that its rate in 2013 will remain the same: it will continue to increase the energy efficiency of its chips and promote Atom processor platform for smartphones and tablets.
