The data traffic mobile Internet overall increased by up to 13 times between 2012 and 2017.
According to the forecast index of Cisco Visual Network for Global mobile data traffic between 2012 and 2017, mobile data traffic worldwide will grow 13-fold in the next five years, reaching 11.2 exabytes (112 billion gigabytes) per month for 2017.
The continued strong growth in the number of connections of mobile Internet will exceed the number of people on earth at that time.
According to estimates the UN , the world population by 2017 will be 7,600 million while Cisco’s report indicates that there will be 10 billion mobile-connected devices in the world.
In addition, the forecast indicates that by 2017 there will be 5,200 million mobile users, almost 900 million more than last year.
This will also bring average speeds seven times greater than today, which reach up to 3.9 Mbps on average for 2017.
The report adds that the 134 exabytes per year that will move online for 2017 amount to 134 times more than the entire Internet traffic (fixed and mobile) generated in 2000, or 30 trillion or 3 trillion images video clips .
Moreover, the increasing amount of traffic to mobile Internet adds only between 2016 and 2017 will be 3.7 exabytes per month, which is more than four times the estimated size of the entire mobile Internet in the year 2012 (884 petabytes per month).
