Amazon buys Goodreads

The supplier of books and electronic products Amazon has reached an agreement to acquire the online portal specializing in book recommendations Goodreads , as reported by the company in a statement.



The group, which did not disclose the terms of the acquisition, has indicated that it expects the transaction to close in the second quarter of 2013. Following the acquisition, Goodreads headquarters will remain in San Francisco . This website, founded in 2007, currently has over 16 million members and more than 30,000 book clubs in this place ‘online’.

The vice president for Amazon Kindle Content, Russ Grandinetti, said that both companies share the “passion for reinventing ‘reading.“Goodreads has helped change the way we discover and discuss books with Kindle, Amazon has helped expand reading worldwide, “added the manager.

For his part, CEO and co-founder of Goodreads, Otis Chandler, explained that through a partnership with Amazon, the company will be able to bring more users to experience the web specializing in books.
